TUI River Cruises has contracted Dutch shipyard Concordia Damen to construct two new CDS River Cruise 135 vessels, designed specifically for the UK market.
These ships, featuring 94 cabins each, will accommodate 188 guests and are set for delivery in 2028. The announcement was made during the christening of TUI Aria in Frankfurt, marking a significant expansion for TUI's fleet.
The new vessels will be methanol-ready, aligning with TUI's commitment to sustainable cruising. This move will increase TUI River Cruises' fleet from six to ten ships by 2028, operating across Europe, including the Rhine, Nile, and Douro rivers. Katy Berzins, Head of River Cruises at TUI, stated, “Announcing our new-build ships marks a major milestone for TUI River Cruises and signals our continued investment in the future of our fleet.”
Concordia Damen, known for its innovative ship designs, will tailor the cruisers to TUI's specifications, ensuring they meet the demands of modern river cruising. The ships will feature high-quality interiors and spacious venues, maintaining TUI's focus on customer satisfaction and culturally immersive experiences.
The expansion reflects TUI's response to increasing consumer demand for river cruises, promising enhanced flexibility and choice for travellers. As TUI continues to grow its river cruise business, these new ships are expected to set new standards in the industry
