Turkish Airlines launches flights to Timișoara

Turkish Airlines has expanded its reach in Romania by launching flights to Timișoara, its fourth destination in the country. This new route, which commenced on 2 April 2026, adds five weekly flights, bringing the airline's total weekly flights in Romania to 47. The inaugural ceremony at Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport highlighted the significance of this expansion for regional connectivity.

The airline's CEO, Bilal Ekşi, emphasised Romania's strategic importance in Eastern Europe, stating, “The launch of our Timișoara flights expands our presence to a fourth city in the country, offering our guests more travel options whilst strengthening access to our Istanbul-centred unparalleled global network.” This move is expected to boost both commercial and tourism activities in the region.

Timișoara, located in western Romania along the Bega River, is renowned for its historical heritage and vibrant cultural scene. Known as “Little Vienna,” the city features iconic landmarks such as Union Square and Victory Square. As the European Capital of Culture in 2023, Timișoara continues to attract tourists and business travellers alike.

To celebrate the new route, Turkish Airlines is offering special fares starting from $169 (US$169) for the Istanbul–Timișoara–Istanbul journey. These fares are available on the airline's official website and through various sales channels. With this addition, Turkish Airlines now connects passengers to 358 destinations worldwide via its Istanbul hub
