Vietjet has inaugurated its direct service between Hanoi and Tainan, marking the airline as the sole Vietnamese carrier to operate at Tainan Airport. The new route, launched on 25 October 2026, aims to boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the region. The inaugural flight, VJ1942, was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute upon its arrival in Tainan.
Operating four round-trip flights weekly, the service offers a flight time of approximately two to three hours, providing convenient travel options for passengers. Vietjet's expanding network allows passengers from Tainan to connect easily to destinations across Vietnam, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Nguyen Thanh Son, Vietjet's CEO, emphasised the significance of the new route, stating, “Every new route connects more than two destinations on a map; it also opens up new opportunities for people, businesses and communities.” He added that the Hanoi–Tainan route is expected to promote tourism and economic exchange.
The launch underscores Vietjet's commitment to expanding its international network. The airline has recently introduced routes to Almaty and Prague and plans to launch additional routes, including Ho Chi Minh City–Chiang Mai and Da Nang–Osaka, by January 2027.
With a modern fleet and competitive fares, Vietjet continues to offer passengers more opportunities to explore new destinations and enjoy seamless travel experiences.
