Vietjet has announced a significant milestone, celebrating 50 million passengers on its Vietnam–Thailand network whilst unveiling plans to expand its Boeing 737-8 fleet in Thailand. The announcement was made during the Thailand–Vietnam Business Forum 2026, attended by Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam, and Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Vietjet Thailand is set to receive its 10th Boeing 737-8 aeroplane in May 2026, with plans to expand its fleet from 22 to 50 aeroplanes in the coming years. This expansion is part of Vietjet’s strategy to modernise its fleet and enhance connectivity across Asia-Pacific, including destinations in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, China, and India.

The airline has played a pivotal role in boosting tourism, trade, and investment between Vietnam and Thailand. It supports tens of thousands of jobs and has contributed approximately $125 million (THB 4.5 billion) to Thailand’s economy from 2022 to 2025. Chairwoman of Vietjet Group, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, emphasised the airline’s commitment to fostering connectivity and growth, stating, “Flights do more than connect destinations — they connect people, cultures, and aspirations for growth.”

As Vietnam and Thailand celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, Vietjet continues to invest in the region, aiming to promote peace and prosperity throughout ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific. The airline’s expansion reflects its dedication to enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic development
