Vietnam Airlines augments fleet with Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

Vietnam Airlines recently received its fifth Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft as a way of augmenting its current commercial fleet.

The company marked the milestone with a grand celebration at Noi Bai International Airport.

It is the 30th wide-body aircraft joining the carrier’s growing fleet, further enhancing its position in Vietnam’s aviation industry.

Vietnam Airlines executive vice-president Dang Anh Tuan said of the new aircraft: “Being the flag carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is committed to upgrading and expanding our fleet. We aim not only to provide the highest levels of passenger comfort but also to fulfill our mission of connecting Vietnam with the world, therefore significantly supporting its economic and social development.”

Vietnam Airlines currently operates nearly 100 aircraft, including five Boeing 787-10s; 11 Boeing 787-9s; and 14 Airbus A350s in its wide-body category.

The airline mainly deploys wide-body aircraft on flights to Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, the United States, as well as between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The ongoing fleet expansion allows Vietnam Airlines to effectively accommodate passenger demand during peak periods, which is important given aircraft shortage following engines being recalled on a global scale.
