Vivid Sydney 2026 has officially begun, transforming the city with more than 200 events over 23 nights, offering a unique blend of Light, Music, Minds, and Food. This year's festival, running from 22 May to 13 June, introduces a new creative direction without a central theme, allowing artists and performers to explore unprecedented creativity.

The festival features a 6.5km light walk with 43 installations and the return of the drone show over Cockle Bay, promising 22 performances. Additionally, the Vivid Fire Kitchen finds a new home at Barangaroo Reserve, showcasing culinary talents. Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper highlighted the festival's immersive nature, stating, "Sydney becomes the canvas for one of the world's greatest arts festivals." Festival Director Brett Sheehy noted the removal of thematic constraints, allowing for a more interactive experience.

Highlights include Chris Levine's "Molecule of Light," Yann Nguema's "Opera Mundi" on the Sydney Opera House, and performances by artists like Matt Corby and Mallrat. Vivid Food, in its fourth year, features Yotam Ottolenghi headlining the Regional Dinner Series.
