Vietnam welcomed 1.07m visitors last month

Vietnam’s tourism industry continues to thrive, as the country welcomed more than one million international visitors in April 2017.

The monthly total of 1.07m arrivals, revealed by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), marks a sharp 34% jump compared to the same month last year.

April 2017 was also the fourth consecutive month that Vietnam exceeded one million visitor arrivals; prior to that the country had never achieved seven figures in single month.

Almost half (46%) of April’s visitors came from just two countries: mainland China (+54.3% to 322,453) and South Korea (+56.9% to 174,373).

Arrivals from Russia, Vietnam’s largest European source market, jumped 57.2% to 55,490, and slower growth was seen from the traditional long-haul markets of Australia (+12.1% to 35,176), France (+17.4% to 30,446) and the US (+9.1% to 48,860).

For the first four months of 2017, Vietnam has now welcomed 4.28m international visitors, up 30.3% year-on-year.
