MDV Edwards / Shutterstock.comAboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation, operator of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), has launched the Discover the Visayas, #FlyViaCebu campaign. It aims to position Cebu as a gateway to multi-island travel across the Visayas.
The initiative is being developed with the Department of Tourism and the Visayas Islands Tourism Alliance. It highlights the region's beaches, heritage sites and culinary experiences.
Destinations featured include Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Siquijor, Guimaras and Biliran. MCIA supports the campaign through its network of 28 domestic routes, connecting travellers to destinations across the Visayas and the Philippines.
A key part of the initiative is MCIA's CEB Connects airport transfer programme. It offers minimum connection times of 35 minutes for domestic transfers and 60 minutes for international-to-domestic connections. Travellers can use Cebu as a transit point to reach destinations such as Busuanga, Siargao and Puerto Princesa.
Ricia Montejo, General Manager of Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation, said: “Today’s travellers are looking for journeys that are convenient, flexible, and allow them to experience more destinations in one trip.”
Aligned with the Department of Tourism's Discover More to Love initiative, the campaign aims to make Cebu more than a standalone destination. It positions the airport as a convenient gateway for exploring the Visayas and other parts of the Philippines.
