Israel Confirms Broader Tourism Reopening

Nachman Ash, the director-general of the Israeli health ministry, has recommended that countries previously on the red list be transferred to the orange or green lists, depending on their standing at the time of the recommendation.

People who have been vaccinated or recovered and were previously on the red list can now come to Israel after a 24-hour isolation period or until they have negative PCR test results, whichever happens first.

Israel has openedย its doors to travellers from orange and green countries from this pastย Sunday, 09 January, following the relaxation of restrictions.

Israelโ€™s health ministryโ€™s request to reopen the country to broader tourists has been granted after a turbulent two years and several peaks of infection.

It is reopening after a four-week closure has sparked optimism that this auspicious start to the new year will set the trend for 2022.

According to the Health Ministry, international travellersย from 199 โ€œorangeโ€ countries will be allowed into Israel if they can prove they have been vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19.

Australia, Italy, UKย and Ireland are all on the โ€œorangeโ€ list. Among the 16 countries categorised as โ€œredโ€ or having a high COVID-19 risk, the ministry proposed that South Africa, Nigeria, Spain, Portugal, France, and Canada be reclassified as โ€œorangeโ€.

All visitors to Israel must submit an online entrance form within 48 hours of their departure, where they will upload proof of vaccination or recovery.
