In compliance with a directive from Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos Jnr, tourism secretary Christina Frasco has formally tendered her courtesy resignation as of noon today, 22nd May.
Earlier this week, Marcos ordered his entire Cabinet to resign as he prepares to recalibrate his administration.
Despite the order, Frasco has assured the President of her support and is aware that she serves at his pleasure.
During an interview with Philippine network One News, Frasco declared: “I am ready to present the courtesy resignation, knowing that the transformation we have given to the tourism industry is one that has employed millions of Filipinos and contributed a lot to our nation and has led to the transformation of the Philippines into a destination to love.”
While Frasco awaits acknowledgement of her resignation from the Office of the President, she has assured the public that it is still business as usual at the Department of Tourism (DOT).
She said: “We continue to collaborate with our fellow government agencies to make sure that the work goes on as that is our top priority: to make sure that we fulfill the duties that have been mandated of us.”
