Sun Siyam celebrates first apprenticeship graduates

Sun Siyam has celebrated a milestone in youth development with the graduation of its first cohort from the Sun Siyam Apprenticeship Programme at Siyam World Maldives. The ceremony marked the successful completion of the programme by eight apprentices, who trained across various disciplines including Culinary, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, and Dive and Recreation.

The event, attended by officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, highlighted the collaboration between public and private sectors to create sustainable employment opportunities for Maldivian youth. Keynote speakers, State Minister Fathimath Mohamed and Resort Manager Ausy, emphasised the importance of practical learning and mentorship in the hospitality industry.

Launched in July 2025, the Sun Siyam Apprenticeship Programme is part of the SAILS Project, a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at enhancing skills development and youth employability in the Maldives. The six-month programme combines hands-on training with professional mentorship, providing apprentices with real-world operational exposure.

Resort Manager Ausy Waseem remarked, โ€œThis programme is more than just training. Itโ€™s about giving young Maldivians the confidence to believe in themselves, the skills to stand tall in the industry, and the courage to dream bigger about their future.โ€

The graduation reaffirms Sun Siyamโ€™s commitment to developing local talent and supporting the future of Maldivian tourism. As the programme evolves, Sun Siyam Resorts aims to continue fostering opportunities and empowering the next generation of hospitality professionals.
