Helgen has since held various leadership roles across Asia Pacific, including Market Vice President for South China and Area Vice President for Hong Kong, Macau, Hainan, and Taiwan. His efforts were pivotal in Marriott's expansion into Macau and Taiwan.
Helgen's appointment comes as JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo, which opened in October 2025, aims to establish itself as a premier urban sanctuary.
