Cathay celebrated the graduation of 80 students from its 2026 I Can Fly Youth Academy, coinciding with the airline's 80th anniversary. The programme brought together young aviation enthusiasts from Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland for a two-week immersive experience, exploring aviation developments in Hong Kong and Chengdu.

The graduation ceremony, hosted by Cathay Director People Patricia Hwang and attended by Cathay Brand Ambassador and Olympic medallist Siobhán Haughey, was a significant milestone for the students, industry partners, and Cathay volunteers. Hwang expressed gratitude to the partners and volunteers, stating, “For 80 years, Cathay has been deeply committed to being a force of positivity for our community. Through the I Can Fly Youth Academy, we are proud to inspire more young people to pursue their aviation dreams.”

The programme, organised in collaboration with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, began in Chengdu with a five-day tour focusing on China's aviation advancements and the emerging low-altitude economy. In Hong Kong, students visited Cathay's facilities, including Cathay City and the Cathay Cargo Terminal, gaining insights into airline operations and the broader airport community.

Outstanding students will have the opportunity to participate in an aviation experiential trip to Adelaide, Australia, for further international exposure. Since its inception in 2003, the I Can Fly programme has engaged over 8,800 students, many of whom have pursued careers in aviation.
