Queenstown Airport has announced a $20.4 million dividend for the year ending 30 June 2026, following a year marked by record passenger numbers and substantial infrastructure investments. The airport reported revenue of $87.1 million and an underlying profit after tax of $34.0 million, despite a reported profit of $9.1 million due to exceptional costs.
The airport handled 2.82 million passenger movements, including over one million international passengers for the first time. The Queenstown Lakes District Council, the majority shareholder, will receive $15.3 million of the dividend, whilst Auckland International Airport will receive $5.1 million.
Simon Flood, Chair of Queenstown Airport Corporation, highlighted the airport's role in regional and national connectivity, stating, “Queenstown Airport is a critical piece of regional and national infrastructure, enabling connections between people and places, businesses and markets.”
Chief Executive Shane O'Hare noted the airport's milestone of over one million international passengers, emphasising the importance of Australia as a key market. He also mentioned the airport's ongoing $65 million airfield improvement programme, which includes a new taxiway and runway overlay, set for completion by next summer.
The airport was named Large Airport of the Year at the 2025 NZ Airports Awards, reflecting its operational excellence and community collaboration. Looking ahead, O'Hare stated, “Our goal is clear: to deliver world-class outcomes for our customers whilst maintaining the trust and confidence of our community.”
