Digital travel platform Agoda has announced its findings on European travel interest to Asia for the summer of 2026. Based on accommodation search data from April to June 2026, Thailand continues to be the most sought-after destination for European travellers, maintaining its top position for the second year in a row. Indonesia has risen to second place, overtaking Japan, which now ranks third.
The data highlights a growing interest in Bali and the broader Indonesian archipelago, whilst Vietnam's ascent from fifth to fourth place underscores its increasing appeal as a must-visit destination. Malaysia completes the top five list. Notably, India experienced the highest year-on-year growth in European searches at 14%, followed by South Korea at 13% and Vietnam at 12%.
Among European travellers, Bangkok and Bali remain the top two city destinations, with Koh Samui, Tokyo, and Pattaya rounding out the top five. The primary European markets driving this interest include France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain. However, there is a notable surge in interest from Central and Eastern European countries, with Türkiye, Hungary, and the Czech Republic showing significant increases in searches for Asian destinations.
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President Supply at Agoda, remarked on the broadening interest from Europe, noting that travellers are increasingly exploring diverse regions across Asia. Agoda continues to facilitate these travel plans with its extensive network of over five million holiday properties and numerous flight routes and activities.
