China and Brunei have celebrated 35 years of diplomatic relations with a series of cultural exchange events, highlighting their deepening friendship. The Brunei China Food Festival 2026, launched on 20 September at Emperor's Court Restaurant, showcased the culinary expertise of master chefs from Donglaishun and Quanjude. These chefs demonstrated traditional techniques, such as hand-slicing lamb and roasting ducks, highlighting Beijing's halal cuisine. Ambassador Chen described food as a universal language, inviting guests to explore China's rich culinary heritage.
Additionally, CICC and the Brunei-China Friendship Association signed a framework agreement to establish a long-term strategic partnership. This agreement aims to enhance cultural exchanges, youth programmes, and people-to-people interactions across ASEAN. Huang Jing, Director of CICC's Cultural Exchange Centre, expressed commitment to fostering closer ties between the people of China and Brunei through community-rooted cultural initiatives.
