Adventure tourism on India’s radar

To make India the preferred destination for adventure lovers, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) will host its 13th annual convention in the backwaters of Kumarakom, Kerala, from September 18-21, 2017.

Talking about the upcoming event, Capt Swadesh Kumar, President, ATOAI said, “The event will be organised at the Backwaters Ripples Resort, Kumarakom, Kerala. The convention themed Emerging Pathways will look at making India the adventure capital of the world.” The agenda of the convention is to address issues related to achieving the goal of establishing India as the Adventure Capital of the world. It will encompass policy, capacity creation, Responsible Tourism and marketing, Kumar added.

Throwing light on the increasing importance of adventure tourism, Kumar said, “The global tourism industry is undergoing significant changes, with travellers increasingly preferring adventure and active holidays. The niche has not only become mainstream but is now leading it.”
