Air India and Saudia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to broaden their strategic cooperation, building on their existing codeshare agreement. The agreement, signed by Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, seeks to improve connectivity between Saudi Arabia and India and support the growing travel demand between the two nations.

The MoU outlines a phased approach to developing the partnership, focusing on expanding the current codeshare agreement and enhancing network connectivity. It also explores terminal co-location and further operational and commercial opportunities, including collaboration between their loyalty programmes. The airlines will consider extending the partnership to other airlines within their groups, such as flyadeal and Air India Express.

Ibrahim Al-Omar remarked, "India is an important market for Saudia, and Air India is a valued partner in strengthening travel links between our two countries." He added that the partnership would offer guests more choice and flexibility, creating new opportunities for collaboration.

Campbell Wilson highlighted the strengthening relationship between India and Saudi Arabia, noting the significant opportunities for aviation to connect people and economies. "Together with Saudia, we look forward to exploring a range of new opportunities that will deliver greater value to our respective customers," he said.

This MoU establishes a framework for ongoing development between Saudia and Air India, aiming to expand cooperation as both airlines enhance their international networks. Since its privatisation in 2022, Air India has expanded its global alliances, maintaining 25 codeshare partnerships and over 120 interline agreements, providing access to over 1,000 destinations worldwide
