Alila Hotels & Resorts expands into Kuala Lumpur with Alila Bangsar

Opening today, 17 May, Alila Bangsar is set on the topmost floors of a mixed-use development known as The Establishment, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s cosmopolitan district.
Alila in Sanskrit means surprise, which is, according to Alila Hotels & Resorts, the most suitable word to describe its first property in Malaysia. The hospitality chain describes it as ‘a modern, urban retreat’ combining the city vibe with 5-star relaxation amenities.
Alila Bangsar was meticulously designed by internationally renowned duo Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, with a focus on celebrating Alila’s signature charms. The property will cater to local and international urbanites, with its 143 guest rooms and world-class facilities.
Now, a 5-star hotel would feel more like a 5-star hotel when it has a dedicated butler service — and Alila Bangsar has just that in the Alila Living Room, located on every guest room floor and comes with free-flow snacks and refreshments.
On level 41, there’s a sky lobby leading to a pool on the floor below where natural light seeps in ‘tropical style’. The concept is introduced to provide an oasis for relaxation whilst still being in the hot, bustling city.
In addition, also on the same level is a French restaurant called Entier. At the forefront of Kuala Lumpur’s new food order, it celebrates nose to tail dining – where every part of the animal or vegetable is used. Chef Masashi Hirouchi is the mastermind behind Entier who was the Chef at the 2 Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in London for five years.
Alila Hotels & Resorts encourages sustainability in all aspects, thus, creating several initiatives for Alila Bangsar.
There’s the IPTV technology, which allows guests to access destination & facilities information on their TV; the creation of nature-friendly E-Zones; a Press Reader app, available to all guests which will allow access to any magazine and newspaper directly from a mobile phone or tablet; as well as e-check-ins via an iPad, and paperless invoicing.
Finally, to improve the guest experience, lifestyle activities are tailored to individual interests across five themes – Cultural learning, Conscious Living, Active Spirits, Culinary Arts and Couple Celebration.
