Bangladesh Tourism Board promotes its nation at Tourism EXPO Japan
The event served as an opportunity to show off the Southeast Asian country’s rich culture
The Bangladesh Tourism Board gave Japan a taste of its nation’s rich culture and national wonders at the recently concluded Tourism EXPO Japan 2024.
From the 26th to the 29th September, the Board’s booth at the EXPO showcased the best of Bangladesh’s attractions, and it served as an open invitation to travellers to explore the country.
The Bangladeshi delegation to the EXPO included one of the country’s top five private tour operators from Bangladesh who offered exclusive tour packages, as well as officials from flag-carrier Biman which offered special flight offers.
The featured tours will allow visitors to explore the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to the Bengal tiger and other unique forms of wildlife.
Additionally, cultural tours aim to guide travellers through Bangladesh’s festivals, arts, and historical landmarks, offering a true taste of its colourful traditions and deep-rooted heritage.
An immersive experience
The Bangladesh pavilion at the event gave visitors an immersive and colourful experience.
Designed with striking motifs inspired by UNESCO-recognized rickshaw paintings, a vibrant and traditional art form that celebrates the creative spirit of Bangladesh, the intricate designs reflect the lively culture of the country, known for its rich history, diversity, and artistry.
Visitors to the pavilion also enjoyed an interactive journey into Bangladesh’s rural life thanks to a bioscope experience. This unique presentation brought landscapes and everyday activities of rural Bangladesh to life in the heart of Tokyo.
Guests also had the opportunity to play traditional rural games, adding a playful dimension to their cultural exploration.
Beyond the EXPO
Bangladesh’s long-standing friendship with Japan is reflected in the growing number of Japanese visitors to the country.
Many are drawn by the Buddhist heritage sites like Paharpur, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has significant spiritual and historical importance.
Moreover, as the birthplace of microfinance, Bangladesh offers a unique perspective on economic and social development that attracts global attention, particularly from Japan.
