Birmingham Airport has launched a unique collaboration with LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham, showcasing minifigures of real airport staff as part of the 'building your journey' campaign. This initiative highlights the diverse roles at the airport, from customer service to airfield positions, through LEGO models displayed at the centre's MiniLand attraction.

The LEGO model, crafted from 14,700 bricks, includes detailed features such as runway markings, luggage belts, and a fleet of LEGO planes. LEGOLAND's 'Master Builders' designed the set, which will expand to include Birmingham Airport's iconic Air Traffic Control Tower and an interactive runway.

Jo Roberts, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Birmingham Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “At our airport there are thousands of hard working and dedicated people that make every journey possible. We are home to engineers, fire fighters, security officers, mechanics, air traffic and IT colleagues to name a few. Job opportunities and types of careers at BHX is so vast we have been delighted to bring this to life with LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham.”

This display follows Birmingham Airport's record-breaking year and coincides with its new Masterplan, which outlines future employment growth until 2041. As one of the UK's largest airports, Birmingham Airport supports 30,900 jobs and contributes £1.5bn to the West Midlands economy. By 2033, the airport aims to increase passenger numbers to over 18 million, boosting its economic impact to £2.1bn and supporting 34,000 jobs
