Hong Kong International Airport has employed a new staff member – a humanoid robot called Timmy. The airport’s “ambassador”, Timmy was initially introduced to greet travellers in HKIA’s arrivals hall during the Chinese New Year holidays. Equipped with microphone and camera, Timmy can greet and interact with passengers, as well as posing for photos.
Skyscanner has launched a new tool aimed at helping Singaporeans make the most of their public holidays. The tool searches a series of flight deals over official public holiday dates, and provides destination guides to help undecided travellers make up their minds. The tool also automatically calculates the number of additional leave days users need to take for each trip
AccorHotels’ Mercure brand is launching a new “bot”, which is designed to provide guests with instant information via Facebook Messenger. The Mercure brand is geared towards allowing guests to experience their local area, and the bot is capable of memorising stories from destinations around the world, and conveying them to the guest in natural conversations.
Los Angeles International Airport has installed 18 more electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the parking area of Terminal 7. The service will be provided free of charge to motorists who pay to park at the airport. In total there are now 89 publicly available EV chargers at LAX, including several electric bus chargers, as part of the airport’s “alternative-fuel strategy”.
