Carnival Cruise Line has launched Carnival Rewards, a pioneering loyalty programme in the cruise industry, designed to offer guests more personalised ways to earn and redeem rewards. Announced on 1 September 2026, the programme aims to enhance guest engagement by recognising various interactions with the cruise line, beyond just the frequency of sailings.
Carnival Rewards introduces two key components: Carnival Rewards Points and Status Qualifying Stars. Guests can earn points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases, including gratuities, and redeem them for future cruises and onboard experiences such as shore excursions and spa treatments. Points are credited approximately 14 days after the end of a sailing, allowing for timely redemption.
The programme also features Status Qualifying Stars, which determine a guest's status level—Red, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond—based on their activity during a two-year qualifying window. The inaugural period runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 December 2028.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, stated, "The new programme recognises the many ways our guests engage with Carnival and with both rewards and status, we're giving guests more flexibility and more value."
Additionally, the Carnival Rewards Mastercard offers cardholders the chance to accelerate their status and earn more points through everyday spending. Benefits include up to 6X points on Carnival purchases and a 50,000-point bonus for new cardmembers.
This initiative marks a significant evolution in Carnival's loyalty offerings, aiming to deepen customer relationships and enhance the cruise experience. As Carnival continues to expand its fleet and destinations, the new programme is set to play a crucial role in maintaining its position as a leader in the cruise industry.
