The China Ready® Workshop is set to make a return to WTM Africa 2027, providing African tourism stakeholders with essential knowledge and market intelligence to engage effectively with the Chinese outbound travel market. Scheduled for 7–9 April 2027 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, the workshop will focus on "Part 2: Marketing and Digital Promotion" as part of a three-year development series.
Presented by Marcus Lee, CEO of China Travel Online and founder of the China Ready® Programme, the workshop aims to offer practical insights into the digital platforms and marketing strategies that influence Chinese travellers. Megan de Jager, Portfolio Director – Travel, Tourism & RX Africa Marketing, highlighted the significance of this market, stating, "Chinese outbound travel continues to represent one of the greatest long-term growth opportunities for global tourism."
Participants will benefit from CPD accreditation, exclusive market intelligence, and resources to enhance their competitiveness. The inaugural workshop in 2026 marked a milestone with South Africa becoming the 55th country to introduce the China Ready® Programme. It also launched the China Ready Index® – Africa Rankings, evaluating African destinations' readiness for Chinese travellers, with Egypt leading the rankings.
Building on the success of its first year, the 2027 workshop promises fresh insights and updated market intelligence. Registration details will be announced on the WTM Africa website closer to the event
