Families can stay in UFO on Isle of Wight

Families seeking an out-of-this-world holiday experience can now stay in a UFO at Windmill Campersite on the Isle of Wight. The newly launched accommodation, Pluto the UFO, is available during the school summer holidays, offering a quirky retreat complete with a half-moon bed, smoke machine, and glowing lights.

The UFO, originally a life raft from an Atlantic oil rig, has been transformed into a cosy alien craft with a plush leather interior and a fully electric door. Its docking station, once a supermarket delivery lorry, now features two bunk beds and a full kitchen, accommodating up to four people.

Nestled below the historic Carisbrooke Castle, Windmill Campersite is known for its eclectic offerings, including a replica Bond submarine and a Falklands helicopter. The site provides picturesque views of Bowcombe Valley and access to local walks.

Rhys Dungey of Windmill Campersite remarked, "Our newest addition is everything you'd expect from Windmill Campersite—it's completely bonkers. I don't know of another alien spaceship around here that you can stay in, and it's bound to delight families."

Travellers can reach the Isle of Wight via Wightlink ferries, with a 25% discount on vehicle crossings for campsite guests. The UFO stay costs from $580 (£475) for four nights during high season, based on two people sharing. Current availability includes 17–20 July, 24–27 July, 27–31 July, and 28–31 August
