Fliggy, a prominent online travel platform under Alibaba Group, and Eastar Jet, a South Korean budget airline, have announced a partnership to enhance travel services between China and South Korea. The agreement, signed on 10 September in Hangzhou, focuses on digital marketing, membership benefits, and AI integration to provide more cost-effective and convenient travel options.
The collaboration will explore new "Flight+" bundle products using Fliggy's AI travel assistant and Alibaba's Qwen models. Eastar Jet plans to introduce special ticketing initiatives for Fliggy users, leveraging Fliggy's digital marketing resources to strengthen its brand in China. This move is expected to improve conversion efficiency and attract more Chinese travellers to South Korea.
Eastar Jet currently operates flights across East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia, with a strong presence in China. The airline offers round-trip flights between South Korea and several Chinese cities, including Shanghai and Zhengzhou, as well as the Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan.
Travel between China and South Korea is on the rise, with Fliggy reporting a 40% year-over-year increase in bookings for South Korea by Chinese travellers during the recent summer. Similarly, flight bookings by Korean travellers to China have nearly doubled over the same period.
Cho Jung-seok, CEO of Eastar Jet, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "We look forward to expanding our reach among Chinese travellers through our partnership with Fliggy." Li Chen, Vice President at Fliggy, added, "Together, we will be better positioned to serve cross-border travel between China and South Korea."
Fliggy's services are integrated with over ten platforms, including Google Flights and AliExpress, facilitating easier travel management for users worldwide
