The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched its “Gateway to Thailand” travel guidebook to encourage overland visitors, particularly from Laos and Malaysia, to explore the country through 10 curated road trips.
The guidebook features routes starting from nine border crossings, including Nong Khai, Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom. The itineraries connect 19 provinces and showcase Thailand’s landscapes, cultural heritage and local communities.
Highlights include the Mekong River scenery in Nong Khai and the misty mountain town of Betong in Yala. Travellers can also discover regional cuisine, historic landmarks and natural attractions along the routes.
“Gateway to Thailand” is available in print and digital formats. The digital edition comes in five languages: Thai, English, Malay, Chinese and Lao. It includes detailed maps, recommended stops and activities to help self-drive travellers plan their journeys.
TAT is promoting the itineraries through partnerships with travel bloggers and influencers. The initiative aims to encourage visitors to venture beyond major destinations and spread tourism revenue to local communities.
Travellers can access the full itineraries and travel guides online through TAT’s digital channels.
