Hyatt Regency New Orleans is offering the service

Hyatt has started enabling guests to stream content from apps including Netflix and YouTube from their mobile devices to their in-room TVs, via the Hyatt app.

The hotel group has integrated Sonifi Solutions’ Staycast solution, which is powered by Google Chromecast, into the World of Hyatt mobile app.

This will allow guests at participating Hyatt hotels to stream content from more than 1,000 apps, including personal photos, videos and presentations for upcoming meetings, to their the in-room TVs through a Chromecast device.

This technology is currently available at 14 Hyatt hotels with more expected to follow.

“This… collaboration is one more way World of Hyatt builds experiences with an understanding of what’s most important to our community of travellers,” said Debbie Goetz, Hyatt’s senior vice president of corporate marketing. “Today’s traveller often has one or more streaming subscriptions, and now they can view their favourite content on the big screen when they’re on the road.”

Hyatt Regency San Francisco became the first hotel to offer the Staycast streaming experience, and Andaz Fifth Avenue in New York was the first Hyatt hotel to enable 4K streaming.

Hyatt and Sonifi say that the system is secure; guests will not be required to enter personal credentials on the TV, and they will be automatically logged-out of the system when they check out of the hotel.
