The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India's largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a Gateway resort in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. This brownfield project aims to capitalise on the growing demand for short vacations and weekend travel, according to Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL.
Strategically located on the Jaipur–Agra highway, the 105-key Gateway Bharatpur will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant, and a bar. Guests can also enjoy recreational facilities such as a swimming pool and fitness centre. The resort will cater to weddings and corporate events with a banquet hall spanning over 4,000 square feet, complemented by pre-function areas and meeting rooms.
Yadur Kapur, the project's partner, expressed confidence that the collaboration with IHCL will position Bharatpur as a preferred short-haul leisure destination. Bharatpur is renowned for the Keoladeo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a significant bird sanctuary, making it an attractive location for experiential travel.
With this addition, IHCL will have 67 hotels in Rajasthan, including 24 under development. The company, founded by Jamsetji Tata, boasts a portfolio of 630 hotels globally, reinforcing its status as India's largest hospitality company by market capitalisation
