InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa has announced a year-long partnership with 'Children of the Sea', a programme dedicated to providing local children with surfing, ocean-based learning, and leadership development at Natadola Beach. This collaboration, starting 13 June 2026, aims to offer practical support, including weekly lunch packs, transport assistance, and First Aid training for the programme's team members.

The initiative, founded by Inia Nakalevu and Lea Chin, began in September 2024 with four boys and has expanded to include 23 children, aged 6 to 16, from the local area. The programme uses surfing as a tool for social change, fostering teamwork, communication skills, and a deeper connection to the ocean.

Grand Pacific Hotel Suva and Holiday Inn Suva are also contributing through the 'Cup of Kindness' coffee sale, with proceeds directed to 'Children of the Sea'. This partnership aligns with IHG Hotels & Resorts' 'Journey to Tomorrow' responsible business plan, which focuses on making a positive impact on communities and the environment.

Lachlan Walker, Regional General Manager for Fiji and Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasised the importance of supporting community-led initiatives. "Children of the Sea is helping children build confidence, discipline, and connection through the ocean," he stated. Co-Founder Lea Chin added, "The support from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa helps with the practical things that make each session possible."

This partnership underscores InterContinental Fiji's commitment to fostering opportunities for Fiji's next generation, ensuring they see the ocean as a place of learning and possibility
