Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort has unveiled its "Sustainability Coffee Journey," a new experience under the Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy programme. This initiative invites guests to explore the highlands of Doi Tung, engaging with the local coffee culture and supporting forest conservation and community livelihoods in Chiang Rai.
The journey begins at the resort's Latitude 19 with a signature espresso made from Doi Tung wild coffee beans. Guests then embark on a guided forest walk through high-altitude coffee plantations, learning about shade-grown coffee, a method that protects biodiversity. The experience includes a seasonal coffee cherry harvest or a biodiversity tour, depending on the time of year.
Participants can also engage in a hands-on roasting workshop and a Coffee Cupping session to explore the unique flavours of Chiang Rai's beans. The journey is complemented by a lunch featuring Northern Thai cuisine amidst the scenic plantation. The day concludes with a 30-minute Coffee Scrub and Foot Wrap at Parvati Spa.
Director of Sales and Marketing, Sitaporn Jesadavisut, emphasised the journey's impact: “The Sustainability Coffee Journey is an educational bridge. It allows our guests to support the forest and the incredible people of Doi Tung, ensuring that every cup of coffee tells a story of conservation and pride.”
The experience is available daily, priced at $185 (THB 6,800) per person, with a capacity of 2 to 8 guests. Bookings must be made at least one day in advance
