Lufthansa Group is set to significantly enhance its Japan network by summer 2027, responding to a strong surge in demand. The airline will reintroduce its Frankfurt-Nagoya route and launch a new daily service between Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita, increasing its offerings to up to 50 flights per week to four Japanese airports.

The Frankfurt-Nagoya service will resume on 29 March 2027, operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Flights will depart Frankfurt at 2:10 pm, arriving in Nagoya at 9:35 am the next day. Return flights will leave Nagoya at 11:30 am, reaching Frankfurt by 6:30 pm. Nagoya, a major industrial hub in Aichi Prefecture, offers connections to destinations across Europe and South America via Frankfurt.

Starting 28 March 2027, Lufthansa will also introduce a daily seasonal service to Tokyo-Narita, complementing its existing daily flights to Tokyo-Haneda from Frankfurt and Munich. The Narita flights will leave Frankfurt at 1:45 pm, arriving at 9:30 am the following day, with return flights departing Narita at 11:20 am and landing in Frankfurt at 6:40 pm.

Both routes will utilise Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring Lufthansa’s Allegris cabins with 28 business class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 231 economy seats. Dieter Vranckx, Lufthansa Group's chief commercial officer, stated, “Japan is a key market for the Lufthansa Group, and we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with additional capacity and the resumption of flights to Nagoya.” The expansion aims to provide customers with more travel options and support the diversification of Lufthansa's intercontinental network.
