Marriott opens new hotel in Kyoto’s cultural heart

Marriott Hotels has opened Kyoto Marriott Hotel in the city's Okazaki district, offering 214 rooms close to historic temples, museums and gardens. The property combines traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts in one of Kyoto's most culturally rich areas.

Located at the foot of the Higashiyama mountains, the hotel features two dining venues. Kyo Warabe serves all-day dining, while Raku Raku specialises in Japanese cuisine.

The property also offers seven flexible event spaces covering approximately 900 square metres. The largest venue can accommodate up to 270 guests.

"We are delighted to welcome guests to Kyoto Marriott Hotel in one of Japan’s most treasured destinations," said Yuji Tanaka, Market Vice President for Japan and Guam at Marriott International.

The hotel's design draws inspiration from Kyoto's cultural heritage, with warm textures and locally influenced details throughout its interiors. Guestrooms and suites offer city views and combine traditional Japanese design with contemporary amenities, including high-speed connectivity and spa-inspired bathrooms.

General Manager Shanker K Chandra said the hotel aims to deliver an immersive experience. "We look forward to blending Marriott’s signature wonderful hospitality with the timeless grace and culinary artistry of Kyoto," he said.

Kyoto Marriott Hotel participates in the Marriott Bonvoy programme, allowing members to earn points on stays and access personalised travel experiences. The hotel also provides a base for guests exploring Kyoto's cultural and natural attractions.
