The Postcard Hotel will open The Postcard on the Rapti River in Chitwan, Nepal, in November 2026. The 22-room-and-suite luxury retreat will overlook the Rapti River and the wilderness of Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for wildlife including Bengal tigers and greater one-horned rhinoceroses.
The retreat will bring the surrounding landscape into the guest experience. Rooms will feature private sit-outs overlooking the river or forest, while the two-bedroom Presidential Suite will include a private pool.
Dining venues will showcase local culinary traditions. Tree Tops restaurant will offer elevated views of the forest, while Tribal Circle will serve open-air barbecue experiences.
Guests can explore the region through guided safaris, forest walks and cultural visits to Tharu villages. The retreat is accessible via Bharatpur Airport, a short flight from Kathmandu followed by a 40-minute drive.
"Our ambition is to bring these places to life through hotels that are deeply rooted in their surroundings," said Kapil Chopra, CEO of The Postcard Hotel.
Savanna Vaidya Basnyat, owner of the new retreat, said: "This project is about more than hospitality. It is about conservation tourism and finding a way for tourism and nature to coexist in harmony."
The opening follows a successful year for The Postcard Hotel, which received 12 honours at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony. The new property will expand the brand's collection of wildlife destinations, with further expansion planned.
