Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its new Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon on the northern coast of Bintan Island, Indonesia. Easily accessible by ferry from Singapore, the resort aims to blend Swiss-inspired hospitality with the warmth of Indonesian island living, catering to families, couples, and business travellers alike.
The resort features 408 rooms and suites, each with a private balcony or terrace offering views of the gardens or sea. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodations, including Deluxe Rooms and Presidential Suites, designed for both short and long stays. Culinary offerings are central to the Mövenpick experience, with dining options such as Port 19, which serves a mix of Indonesian, Asian, and international cuisine, and Yokatta Izakaya & Bar, which specialises in Japanese dishes.
The resort also boasts extensive recreational facilities, including the Recreation Village, which offers fitness, sports, and family activities. For younger guests, the Little Birds Club provides indoor and outdoor play areas. Additionally, guests have access to two 18-hole golf courses and the Shantara Spa & Wellness centre.
The opening of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon is part of a broader trend of international hospitality developments on the island, including new properties by Four Points by Sheraton and Holiday Inn. Bintan Resorts reported an 18% increase in visitors by May 2026, with Singapore remaining the largest source market.
Richard Margo, General Manager of the resort, stated, “Whether guests come for the beach, golf, dining, wellness, a family holiday or a corporate gathering, our aim is to give them the space and choice to create their own experience of Bintan.” The resort also offers over 2,000 square metres of meeting and event space, including a 900-square-metre Grand Ballroom
