Armenia is continuing its push to attract travellers from the Gulf, extending its temporary visa-free entry programme for eligible GCC visitors until 1 July 2027. The decision reinforces Armenia's position as one of the most accessible international destinations for Gulf travellers, allowing eligible citizens and residents to visit without the need for a visa application, government fees, or lengthy pre-travel formalities. The scheme covers eligible nationals of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman, while also benefiting qualifying GCC residents who meet the programme's residency requirements.
Over the past few years, Armenia has emerged as one of the region's most popular short-haul destinations for travellers from the GCC. Its cooler summer climate, mountain landscapes, cultural heritage, family-friendly attractions, and relatively short flight times have helped position the country as an attractive alternative to traditional European getaways. The continued visa-free policy is expected to further strengthen tourism links between Armenia and the Gulf at a time when airlines continue expanding regional connectivity.
The programme applies to travellers holding valid residence permits issued by GCC countries, the United States, European Union member states, or Schengen Area countries. Eligible visitors can stay in Armenia visa-free for up to 180 days within a one-year period, provided their residence permit remains valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
Authorities have clarified that residence permits must be presented either as a physical residence card or as a residence sticker in the traveller's passport. Travellers are also encouraged to verify the latest eligibility requirements through Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs before departure.
The extension forms part of Armenia's broader strategy to deepen tourism, economic, and cultural ties with GCC countries while making travel to the destination as seamless as possible. Talking about the decision, Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairperson of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, said: “Over the past years, visitors from across the Gulf have come to experience Armenia, its history, culture, landscapes and traditions, and have left with a deeper appreciation of our country. By continuing this arrangement, we remain open to more visitors and greater exchange. We look forward to welcoming even more guests from across the Gulf to discover Armenia and the experiences it offers.”
As destinations across Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia compete for Gulf travellers, simplified visa policies are becoming an increasingly important advantage.
By extending visa-free access for another year, Armenia is not only making travel easier but also reinforcing its ambition to remain one of the Gulf's most convenient and welcoming international destinations for leisure, family holidays, and cultural tourism.
