Nobu Hospitality has announced its latest venture in Portugal, unveiling plans for a luxury development at Monte Rei in the Eastern Algarve. This project, set to commence construction in 2027, will feature a Nobu Hotel with 100 rooms and suites, a signature Nobu restaurant, and 21,000 square metres of villas and branded residences. The development aims to welcome its first guests by 2029.

Located within over 1,000 acres of unspoilt countryside and centred around the renowned Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, the project will bring Nobu's distinctive approach to luxury hospitality to the region. Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, stated, "Together with Norfin, we have the opportunity to create a distinctive Nobu destination that feels deeply connected to the Eastern Algarve."

The development is part of a broader investment programme led by Norfin, which includes hospitality, residential living, and leisure amenities. Miguel Mateus, CEO of Norfin, highlighted the significance of this partnership, saying, "Our partnership with Nobu is central to delivering that ambition. It introduces one of the world's most recognised luxury hospitality brands to the Eastern Algarve."

An esteemed international design team, including DSA Architects and the Rockwell Group, has been appointed to shape the project. The team aims to integrate Nobu's understated design philosophy with Monte Rei's landscape and the character of the Eastern Algarve, enhancing the resort's international appeal whilst preserving its privacy and authenticity
