Royal Jordanian expands fleet with 17th Airbus A320neo

Royal Jordanian Airlines has added its 17th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft to its fleet, marking a significant step in its strategic plan to modernise and expand. This addition is part of a broader fleet renewal programme that has seen 10 new aircraft join since the start of 2026, bringing the total fleet to 36. The initiative aims to enhance operational capabilities and improve passenger experience.

The airline's Vice Chairman and CEO, Samer Majali, highlighted the importance of the new aircraft in strengthening operational efficiency and competitiveness. "The Airbus A320neo Family plays a key role in operating RJ’s short and medium haul network," Majali stated. The fleet is set to expand further with an additional A320neo arriving in December, and two more by 2028, increasing the total to 20.

Royal Jordanian is also expanding its long-haul capabilities with two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners added this year and a third expected in 2027. The airline plans to grow its 787-9 fleet to nine, enhancing its ability to offer long-distance nonstop services with improved fuel efficiency and modern onboard features.

In addition to new aircraft, Royal Jordanian is upgrading its existing Boeing 787-8 fleet with modern connectivity systems and cabin refurbishments. This comprehensive strategy supports the airline's role in advancing Jordan’s tourism strategy and reinforcing Amman as a regional air transport hub. The airline continues to expand its global network, aiming for approximately 60 destinations in the coming years.
