Samoa's renowned cultural celebration, the Teuila Festival, will return under a new name, the Measina Festival, from 30 August to 5 September 2026. This event, held in Apia, Samoa's capital, aims to highlight the rich arts, culture, and traditions of the Pacific nation, inviting European travellers to immerse themselves in the vibrant festivities.

The festival, themed "Celebrations of Arts and Culture," will feature a diverse programme including traditional dance and music, local cuisine, arts and crafts, and sporting activities. Visitors will gain authentic insights into fa’a Samoa, the Samoan way of life, through events such as long boat races, paopao races, and the Samoan kilikiti cricket competition. Evening cultural shows will take place in front of Samoa's government building, fostering a communal atmosphere.

A significant aspect of the festival is its focus on engaging younger generations with Samoan heritage. The Ministry of Education and Culture will host the "Samoa Ne’i galo lau Aganu’u" competition, encouraging students to explore their cultural roots. Additionally, the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) will support youth participation through cultural entertainment competitions, culminating in the Miss Samoa Pageant.

Seb Sarrasin, Director of STA UK & Europe, emphasised the festival's role in showcasing Samoa's unique culture and community spirit.
