Time Out has recognised São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as two of the world's best queer spaces, highlighting their vibrant LGBTQIAPN+ scenes.

The selection, curated by the British publication's editors and contributors, was released in celebration of Pride Month and features four Brazilian venues alongside iconic locations in cities like London, Tokyo, and Paris.

In São Paulo, Bandeira Bandeira and the Museu da Diversidade Sexual stand out. Bandeira Bandeira, located in Barra Funda, is known for its lively atmosphere that spills onto the pavement, whilst the museum, the first of its kind in Latin America, offers exhibitions, workshops, and a book club dedicated to sexual diversity. Meanwhile, Rio de Janeiro's Pink Flamingo and Novooeste Bar showcase the city's diverse queer culture. Pink Flamingo, in Copacabana, is famed for its drag performances, whilst Novooeste, in Santa Teresa, combines live music, art events, and gastronomy.

The inclusion of these venues broadens the perception of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro beyond traditional tourist spots, showcasing a genuine and plural Brazil. According to a Booking.com survey, São Paulo, Florianópolis, and Rio de Janeiro are among the top ten cities globally rated by LGBTQIAPN+ travellers, reinforcing Brazil's reputation as a leading destination for diversity and culture.

Both cities serve as major gateways for international tourists, offering a rich tapestry of art, music, nightlife, and cultural experiences. With international flights readily available, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are accessible hubs for exploring Brazil's captivating destinations
