Vietnam launches Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub

The Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCM) and Vietjet have unveiled the Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub (AAFH) at the Singapore Airshow 2026. This new financial platform aims to mobilise over $6.1 billion (US$6.1 billion), positioning Vietnam as a key player in the aviation finance sector. The launch was attended by industry giants such as Airbus, Boeing, and Pratt & Whitney. Located in Vietnam's bustling economic centre, the AAFH offers a range of incentives, including competitive tax policies and liberalised capital flow mechanisms. These measures are designed to attract global talent and investment, facilitating approximately $50 billion (US$50 billion) in transaction value by 2035. The hub's "one-stop, multi-service" model integrates finance, infrastructure, and logistics to enhance efficiency across the aviation value chain. Vietjet, a founding member of the AAFH, plays a pivotal role with nearly 600 aeroplanes on order. Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao emphasised the hub's strategic importance in reshaping aviation finance and supporting regional economic growth. "Vietjet is committed to leading high-impact transactions that help strengthen a forward-looking and sustainable aviation finance ecosystem," she stated. During the airshow, Vietjet signed significant agreements with global partners, including a deal with Pratt & Whitney for engine services for 44 Airbus aeroplanes. These partnerships underscore Vietnam's growing influence in the global aviation market. The AAFH is expected to become a major destination for international aviation finance, marking a significant step in Vietnam's integration into high-value segments of the global aviation industry This story was selected and published by a human editor, with content adapted from original press material using AI tools. Vietnam tourism surges 20% as Chinese arrivals hit record highs

In a recent article, we mentioned that Vietnam is stepping up its game to become one of the most desirable destinations in Southeast Asia. Indeed, per a report from C9 Hotelworks, foreign arrivals to Vietnam were up  by 20.4 percent as of December 2025. This increase was notably fuelled by a significant shift in Chinese outbound travel which is driving its nationals to consider destinations other than, say, Thailand or the Philippines. This feature seeks to delve deeper into why Vietnam is rapidly becoming the destination of choice for Chinese tourists and if it is possible for this Indochina nation to rise to the top of the game. The current tale of the tape A report featured by Nikkei Asia on 27th January points out how Chinese travellers are making their way to Vietnam, mostly driven to the country by sociopolitical factors, as well as security concerns due to border instability. Indeed, the Chinese are making the most of the growing number of flight routes to Vietnam to experience what the country has to offer in the way of culture, leisure, and adventure for themselves. As of June 2025, Vietnam’s General Statistics Office reports that China has surpassed South Korea as its biggest source market; at the time, Vietnam welcomed 1.95 million Chinese arrivals out of the 7.7 million foreigners who entered the country throughout Q1-2025. This 15 percent increase in Chinese tourists from totals recorded in 2019 are seen as proof positive of Vietnam’s ongoing drive to draw in more foreign arrivals. The Vietnam advantage Experts point out that there are numerous reasons why Vietnam is rapidly rising through the ranks to become Southeast Asia’s next most likely tourism hotspot. One report points out the obvious: the country’s rich natural beauty is certainly a draw in and of itself, and, when paired with the richness of Vietnam’s diverse cultural heritage and affordable costs for food, lodging, and transportation, it becomes a formula for promotional success. Vietnam has also been actively ramping up its infrastructure to aid both locals and tourists, bringing in investments for the development of hotels, resorts, overall connectivity, and attractions, as well as for access roads, sea ports, and airport development as seen in the soon-to-be-opened Long Thanh International Airport on the southern outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City The country’s drive towards more sustainable, even regenerative tourism options has also boosted its appeal, and its government’s measures to protect both the environment and intangible heritage assets have been lauded globally. Specific aspects drawing in Chinese travellers While improved infrastructure has been a great help in boosting Vietnam’s profile as a tourist destination not just for the Chinese but also for the rest of the world, it also has several factors working in its favour. Consider this: Vietnamese tourism and hospitality firms are hiring or training more Mandarin-speaking staff to deal with the growing number of Chinese travellers coming into the country. At the same time, Vietnamese professionals have studied this particular market carefully, resulting in itineraries specifically tailored to the tastes of both adventure-seekers and those opting for a more leisurely way of travelling the country. Social media, specifically China-centric platforms like WeChat, Xiaohongshou, and Weibo which are also available in Vietnam, has also served as a promotional tool targeting younger, more adventurous travellers. Let us also consider another aspect: Vietnam’s rising presence in the field of luxury travel and hospitality. Over the past year, we have noted the construction of luxury accommodations brought in by major global brands, including Ritz-Carlton, Capella, and The Luxury Collection. Luxurious stays paired with the country’s status as one of Asia’s top golf destinations have likewise helped draw in high net worth travellers from the Chinese Mainland, as well as from Hong Kong and Macao. We should also not discount the fact that, due to the aforementioned sociopolitical and security issues, Chinese travellers feel safer in Vietnam than in other parts of the region, citing a shared heritage and history, along with stronger diplomatic ties. While we may still be in the earliest days of 2026, Vietnam’s appeal to the Chinese travellers may already be here for the long haul.

Phu Quoc has surpassed Nha Trang to become the second most popular choice, boasting a 41% increase in interest. Vietnam Golf Coast Targets Landmark 2026 as Central Vietnam Cements Status as Asia’s Leading Golf Destination

Central Vietnam’s Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) collective is gearing up for a landmark 2026, building on strong tourism momentum, new air links into Da Nang and growing recognition as one of Asia’s premier golf destinations. As Vietnam’s wider economy attracts global attention for its rapid growth trajectory, the region’s golf scene is mirroring that confidence, drawing increasing numbers of long‑haul golfers from Europe, North America and Australasia. Ba Na Hills Golf Club Marks 10 Years at the Top   Ba Na Hills Golf Club enters 2026 celebrating its 10th anniversary and a decade of helping put Central Vietnam on the world golf map. Since opening in 2016, the Luke Donald–designed course has become Vietnam’s most awarded golf venue, securing multiple honours including five consecutive World Golf Awards for Asia’s Best Golf Course, six Vietnam’s Best Golf Course titles and repeated recognition at the World Luxury Travel Awards. Set in valleys and forested foothills beneath Ba Na Mountain, the club combines dramatic elevation changes with fully floodlit fairways, making it a flagship for the Vietnam Golf Coast brand and a must‑play for international visitors. In 2026, Ba Na Hills is focused on sustaining quality, deepening global partnerships and reinforcing Central Vietnam’s status as a world‑class golf hub. Montgomerie Links: Boutique Appeal, Big Market Share Alongside Ba Na Hills, Montgomerie Links anchors the VGC line‑up as a boutique “stay and play” destination between Da Nang and Hoi An. Designed by Colin Montgomerie, the coastal layout blends links‑style strategy with Vietnam’s dune and seaside terrain, and has been named among Asia‑Pacific’s best courses by leading golf publications. Montgomerie Links enters 2026 from a position of strength, having captured around 17 percent market share in 2025 to remain the most‑played course by rounds in the Hue–Da Nang region. Growth was driven mainly by golfers from Europe, the US, Australia and New Zealand, validating the club’s positioning as an intimate, home‑away‑from‑home environment with on‑course accommodation, dining, practice facilities and a strong focus on personal service. Designer Roster and Growing Connectivity The Vietnam Golf Coast collective now brings together a “who’s who” of golf course architecture, with championship layouts by Luke Donald, Colin Montgomerie, Sir Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones Jr. This designer depth, combined with legendary beaches, luxury resorts and nearby cultural highlights in Hoi An and Hue, gives Central Vietnam a rounded appeal that goes beyond pure golf. Danang International Airport continues to expand its network of regional and long‑haul flights, improving access from key markets in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania. Better connectivity is expected to fuel further growth in inbound golf tourism from Australia and New Zealand as well as Chinese‑speaking markets, India and Japan, all of which are priority targets in the VGC’s 2026 marketing plans. Events and Trade Engagement Driving 2026 Strategy A packed calendar of cultural and sporting events in 2026 will add extra depth to golf itineraries, including the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival from May to July and Vietnam–Korea and Vietnam–Japan festivals later in the summer. These events, paired with golf, beaches and heritage attractions, aim to position Central Vietnam as a multi‑layered destination for couples, groups and golf‑plus‑family trips. On the trade side, the Vietnam Golf Coast will maintain a strong presence at industry events such as the Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) in Thailand, while continuing targeted campaigns in core markets like Australia and New Zealand. With award‑winning courses, improving air access and a rising international profile, Central Vietnam is poised for a standout 2026 as one of Asia’s most compelling golf escapes.

Tourism Malaysia casts spotlight on Sabah at Vietnam networking event

In an effort to strengthen the promotion of Sabah in the Vietnamese market, Malaysian tourism officials staged the Sabah Tourism Destination & B2B Forum in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday, 12th January.  The event was jointly organised by the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Tourism Malaysia Ho Chi Minh City office, and the Sabah Enhanced Travel Innovation Association (SETIA), creating a direct networking platform for Sabah-based tourism businesses and Vietnamese travel partners. The forum brought together 21 delegates representing 18 tourism companies from Sabah, participating in table-top B2B sessions with partners in Ho Chi Minh City, opening doors for new travel packages, joint promotions, and stronger partnerships to boost visitor arrivals from Vietnam to Sabah. Delivering the opening remarks, Tourism Malaysia’s director in Vietnam Amirah Nadiah Mazlan declared: “Through today’s networking session, Malaysia aims to expand collaboration with the Vietnamese market and position Sabah as an increasingly familiar destination for Vietnamese travellers. With its strength in nature, authentic local experiences, and a strong commitment to sustainable tourism development, Sabah is ready to work closely with Vietnamese partners to develop strategic, long-term tourism products that meet the needs of modern travellers.” What’s driving international travel between Malaysia and Vietnam Enhanced air connectivity remains vital for tourism growth between Malaysia and Vietnam.  With AirAsia operating direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Kota Kinabalu within just over two hours, this seamless link not only makes Sabah more accessible to Vietnamese travellers but also empowers tourism businesses on both sides to create short-haul, flexible, and attractive travel products. Sharing insights on Sabah’s approach to the Vietnamese market, STB chief executive Julinus Jeffry Jimit opined: “Vietnam is recognised as one of Sabah’s most promising emerging markets. By fostering direct connections among industry players, we aim to expand our partnership network and build sustainable, long-term collaborations with Vietnamese tourism partners.” Through the event, the Sabah Tourism Board also shared updates on its preparations for the upcoming strategic milestone Visit Sabah Year 2027.  Under the new thematic Explore Sabah: Naturally Inspiring, Beyond Ordinary, Sabah seeks to strengthen its role as one of Malaysia’s leading destinations for nature-based tourism, adventure travel, and indigenous cultural experiences, while complementing the broader objectives of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).  Sabah is also expected to become a strategic destination partner for Vietnamese travel businesses, offering fresh and distinctive travel experiences for Vietnamese visitors in the coming years. STB also reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable tourism development, ensuring a balanced approach between economic growth, environmental conservation and community well-being. Community-based tourism (CoBT) remains a key pillar of this strategy.

Azerai Ke Ga Bay Wins Vietnam’s ‘Best Boutique Resort of the Year’ for 2025

Azerai Ke Ga Bay, a serene all-suites-and-villas retreat on Vietnam’s south-central coast, has been crowned “Best Boutique Resort of the Year” for 2025 at the Gourmet Vietnam Awards, hosted by Epicure magazine. The accolade recognises the resort’s blend of understated luxury, oceanfront setting and warm, personalised service on a peaceful stretch of Ke Ga Bay. General Manager Julian Moore described the award as a tribute to the team’s dedication to creating a “serene coastal oasis” for guests, where intuitive hospitality is just as important as design and location. Epicure Vietnam’s annual awards spotlight standout names across the country’s fast-evolving gastronomy and hospitality scene, making this win a significant marker of how far Azerai Ke Ga Bay has risen on the national stage. A Landmark Year of Global Recognition Being named Vietnam’s Best Boutique Resort caps what has already been a remarkable year for Azerai Ke Ga Bay. In October, the resort earned a coveted MICHELIN Key in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide to hotels in Vietnam, highlighting its refined architecture, tranquil atmosphere and high service standards. The Times of London also listed Azerai Ke Ga Bay among Southeast Asia’s best boutique hotels for 2025, further cementing its growing international profile. On the lifestyle front, Azerai Ke Ga Bay was voted the world’s second “Most Instagrammable Hotel” overall, and took the title of “Most Instagrammable Hotel in Asia, the Indian Ocean and South Pacific” in a global contest run by Luxury Travel Advisor. The resort’s minimalist oceanfront design, sunken lounge and infinity pool overlooking a white‑sand beach helped it stand out in a field of highly photogenic properties worldwide. A Coastal Sanctuary Within Easy Reach of Ho Chi Minh City Part of Azerai’s boutique collection created by legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha, Azerai Ke Ga Bay sits about 2.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh City via a new highway, making it an easy escape from Vietnam’s largest city. The resort unfolds across five hectares of verdant gardens along a quiet stretch of coast, framed by Hon Ba Island and its historic lighthouse to the east and dramatic sand dunes to the west. Accommodation comprises low‑rise suites and villas that keep the focus firmly on the landscape, with a clean, modern aesthetic that complements the surrounding nature rather than competing with it. Guests come for the sense of seclusion as much as the sea views, with the resort consistently highlighted for its peaceful ambience and connection to place. New Wellness and Golf Experiences The resort has also been expanding its experience-led offerings. Recently, Azerai Ke Ga Bay introduced complimentary outdoor yoga sessions, held against the backdrop of the sea and cooled by coastal breezes, to deepen its focus on gentle, nature‑based wellness. For golfers, new packages provide access to the nearby PGA NovaWorld Phan Thiet Golf Course, a championship layout designed by Greg Norman that has quickly become one of Vietnam’s standout coastal courses. These additions build on Azerai’s broader positioning as a brand that favours thoughtful, locally attuned experiences over ostentatious luxury, inviting guests to slow down and immerse themselves in their surroundings. Adrian Zecha’s Vision, Continued Azerai Ke Ga Bay is part of Adrian Zecha’s growing Azerai portfolio, which also includes Azerai La Residence, Hue in central Vietnam. Zecha, best known as the founder of Aman Resorts in 1988, has long been regarded as one of the world’s leading creators of intimate, design‑driven hotels that emphasise tranquillity, cultural connection and discreet service. With a MICHELIN Key, multiple international accolades and now Epicure Vietnam’s title of “Best Boutique Resort of the Year”, Azerai Ke Ga Bay encapsulates that ethos on Vietnam’s quieter coast—offering a refined alternative to the country’s busier beach destinations. For more information or to make a booking at Azerai Ke Ga Bay, guests can call +84 (0) 252 3682 222, email reservations.kegabay@azerai.com or visit azerai.com/azerai-ke-ga-bay/.
