Embraer APAC Airline Business Seminar reflects Momentum in the Region
Embraer hosted the Asia Pacific edition of its Airline Business Seminar in Singapore, bringing together airlines, the financing community, consultants and aviation authorities from across the region from the 6th to the 7th of August 2025. The closed-door event offered a platform for attendees to share and discuss emerging trends in the sub-regions of Asia Pacific, new traveler patterns and the opportunities it is creating for airlines and aircraft types like the E-Jets and E-Jets E2 families of regional aircraft and small narrowbody aircraft. Raul Villaron, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Embraer Commercial Aviation, said: “The APAC Embraer Airline Business Seminar featured robust discussions about the evolving strategies that airlines and the wider aviation industry are adopting to seize growth opportunities and better yields in APAC – the world’s powerhouse of global aviation growth.” “This event is an extension of our long engagement with the Asia-Pacific community and a reflection of how our small narrowbody and regional aircraft are empowering airlines to tap on unrealized potential in the region: enhancing connectivity and frequency of flights beyond the major hubs to underserved destinations across the region.” In its latest market outlook report released in June 2025, Embraer expects a global demand for 10,500 sub-150-seat jets and turboprops within the next 20 years. Of this, a demand for 3390 units (~33.2%) stems from Asia Pacific including China. With close to 200 E-Jets across Asia Pacific including China, Embraer’s E-Jets continue to build a strong track record in the region with its high performance, efficiency and reliability. 14 airlines across 7 countries have selected the E-Jets E2 and E-Jets and including Scoot, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Alliance Airlines (Australia) and Virgin Australia. In August 2024, Virgin Australia ordered eight E190-E2s for its Western Australia regional and charter business. This year, All Nippon Airways ordered 15 E190-E2s with an option for five more, to enhance the airline’s nationwide connectivity. Both airlines will be the first operator of the E2s in their respective countries.
Embraer releases 2025 market outlook report
Ahead of the Paris Air Show next week, Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer released Market Outlook 2025, its annual 20-year forecast for commercial aircraft deliveries in the sub-150-seat category. Market Outlook 2025 estimates 10,500 orders for new jets and turboprops through 2044, and also presents analyses of global influences and trends in seven world regions that impact the demand for new aircraft. Because of its growing prominence in commercial aviation, statistics for China are detailed separately in this year’s Market Outlook for the first time. The document also analyses demand for cargo aircraft, including a forecast for passenger-to-freighter conversions. Not quite status quo The overall forecast for the number of new sub-150-seat aircraft remains almost unchanged from Embraer’s previous estimate. Arjan Meijer, Embraer president and CEO of commercial aviation, attributes the consistency of the estimate to the longevity of social, supply chain, and geopolitical trends Embraer identified during the pandemic. He said: “Five years after the onset of the pandemic, many of the structural changes it triggered have proven to be quite long lasting. In our first post-pandemic Market Outlook, we highlighted the transition from globalization to a more polarized geopolitical outlook. Today, as countries and regions pursue greater strategic autonomy, the demand for regional access will continue to grow. Meijer added that the company believes that mixed fleets that combine small and large narrowbody aircraft are essential for that long-term growth. Indeed, these would provide the versatility needed to better match capacity with demand, expand networks, and support national and regional development goals.

Finnair’s first renewed Embraer aircraft is ready
Finnair is renewing the cabins of its Embraer fleet to increase passenger comfort also on shorter routes. The first refurbished Embraer cabin is now completed, and the target is to renew the entire fleet of 12 Embraer aircraft by spring 2026. Seven aircraft will be renewed during the winter season 2024–2025, and the remaining Embraer aircraft will be renewed during the winter season 2025–2026. The Embraer fleet is used on routes to many of Finnair’s destinations in Finland and the rest of Europe, especially shorter routes in Northern and Central Europe. The colour scheme and atmosphere of the new cabins have been designed to match that of Finnair’s recently refurbished wide-body fleet and Finnair’s new Schengen lounge at Helsinki Airport. "We wanted to create a harmonious, fresh and inviting travel environment for our customers, with dark blue and grey colours and a hint of wooden laminate – elements familiar from our long-haul aircraft," says Eerika Enne, Head of Inflight Customer Experience. "The renewed cabin will feature two new seats. The seats on rows 1– 9 offer a bit of additional comfort thanks to its design and cushioning. The seats in the first rows recline slightly, while from row 10, the seat does not recline. The service concept will remain unchanged in connection with the cabin renewal," says Enne. The number of seats remains unchanged, with 100 seats in Finnair’s E190 aircraft as before. In connection with the cabin renewal, lighting was also renewed to LED lighting. One of the targets of the Embraer cabin renewal has been to reduce the weight of the aircraft, as reduced weight means lower fuel consumption and, thus, lower carbon dioxide emissions. Weight has thus been a consideration for all elements in the cabin. "Both the Business Class seat and the Economy Class seat are lighter than the previous Embraer cabin seats, and also the cabin carpet is made of a lighter material than before. With these changes, we aim to reduce the weight of the aircraft by approximately 150 kg per aircraft," Enne notes.
