IndiGo launches direct flights from Mumbai to Seychelles

IndiGo launches direct flights from Mumbai to Krabi, Thailand from 23 March 2025

As part of its mission to connect India to the world, IndiGo will commence direct flights between Mumbai and Krabi, effective March 23, 2025. This strategic addition to IndiGo's network will enable the customers to unlock the beauty of Krabi, a stunning tropical paradise known for its crystal-clear waters, limestone cliffs, and pristine beaches. Mumbai Airport pioneers’ cashless digital payment system at MLCP

In a major step towards smart mobility and digital transformation, passengers travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, can utilise the automated digital payment system to enter and exit the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP). This cashless payment process aims to simplify the payment system, cutting down on wait time, and providing users with a hassle-free parking experience. The cashless initiative furthers the Digital India initiative of the Government of India, enabling users of the MLCP to pay for parking using various digital options, such as mobile wallets, debit/ credit cards, UPI, or other online payment methods. All customer lanes at the MLCP are enabled with FASTag counters to further speed up entry and exit. FASTag users at CSMIA's Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) can enjoy an automated parking process, eliminating the need for manual intervention in receiving receipts or cash/ card payments. Currently, at CSMIA’s MLCP, 66 percent users opt for FASTag as their primary mode of payment, while 10-15 percent opt for UPI, credit, or debit card options, with 5 percent pre-booking parking slots. With 85 percent passengers moving towards cashless transactions, CSMIA aims to further eliminate the use of cash by partnering with stakeholders and encouraging customers to adopt automated digital payment methods. However, those passengers who still opt to pay in cash must do so at the designated central payment stations only. Commenting on the initiative, a CSMIA spokesperson said: “Mumbai Airport continues to set new benchmarks in smart airport solutions, enhancing efficiency, transparency and sustainability through digital innovation. CSMIA's shift to a digital payment system at the MLCP reflects its commitment to offering modern, efficient parking experience.” The airport encourages passengers to adopt the new digital payment options. CSMIA remains dedicated to delivering a world-class experience for all travellers.

Kenyan luxury safari operator Wild Whispers put its best foot forward at the recently concluded OTM Mumbai 2025. During the event which ran from 30th January to 1st February, Wild Whispers executives used this platform to engage with Indian travellers seeking high-end, immersive safari holidays in Africa. Thailand puts best foot forward at Mumbai’s Outbound Travel Mart 2025

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showcased its home country’s diverse attractions at Outbound Travel Mart 2025 in Mumbai from 30th January to 1st February. The 24th edition of South Asia’s largest travel trade fair was staged at the Jio World Convention Centre.  Over 1,600 exhibitors from over 60 countries presented at this year’s Outbound Travel Mart, drawing more than 40,000 visitors to the venue. Among those in attendance were leisure and corporate travel professionals as well as travel enthusiasts. This is TAT’s 12th consecutive year at the Outbound Travel Mart. An important market Speaking at the event, TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said: “India remains one of our most significant tourism markets, and we are delighted to celebrate surpassing two million Indian visitors to Thailand last year. At this year’s Outbound Travel Mart, we present our country’s rich and diverse offerings as part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025. Our goal is to inspire first-time visitors, deepen connections with Indian travellers, and highlight unmatched experiences through cultural promotion and business exchanges.” During the event, TAT reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian market by highlighting the nation’s rich culture, renowned hospitality, and diverse tourism offerings.  The Amazing Thailand Stand displayed luxury getaways, family holidays, wellness retreats, and corporate incentive packages.  At the same time, it served to build connections between 25 Thai tourism sellers and numerous Indian buyers, fostering opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.  The visually striking stand featured a vibrant cultural zone with performances, arts, and crafts, symbolising the country’s dedication to immersive travel experiences. Targets for the year With a target of 2.3 million Indian arrivals in 2025, TAT is focusing on key travel segments, including family vacations, weddings, millennial explorers, luxury leisure, and golf tourism.  Flagship campaigns include Living it up in Thailand, aimed at millennial travellers, and The Celebrations with Care and Inner Shine, promoting the country as a premier destination for weddings and family celebrations. Thailand welcomed 2,129,149 Indian visitors in 2024, marking a 30.74 percent increase from 1,628,542 arrivals in 2023.  Growth was attributed to visa exemptions for stays of up to 60 days, short direct flights of approximately two to four hours from major Indian cities, and strong air connectivity, with 2.93 million seats available in 2024. The country’s reputation for luxury experiences at exceptional value has further reinforced its appeal.

Air Astana launches nonstop flights between Almaty and Mumbai

Air Astana is celebrating 20 years of connecting Kazakhstan and India by expanding its services with the launch of a new direct route between Almaty and Mumbai, set to commence on April 20, 2025. The airline has announced that flights to Mumbai will be operated using Airbus family aircraft, with three weekly services scheduled on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Economy class return fares, including taxes, will start at US$406, while Business class return fares will be available from USD 1,136. Peter Foster, Chief Executive of Air Astana, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “With the Indian economy growing strongly, Air Astana is delighted to launch services to Mumbai, a vibrant and flourishing metropolis driven by trade, finance and enterprise. Business and leisure travellers will now be able to experience the excellence of Air Astana’s in-services when flying between Kazakhstan’s and India’s most commercial cities.” This new service is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between the two nations, providing seamless travel options for both leisure and business travellers. With Mumbai serving as a major financial and cultural hub, the expansion is set to strengthen Air Astana’s presence in India, complementing its existing flights between New Delhi and Almaty.

India Crowns Its First-Ever “2025 SAI Best Sommelier of India” at The LaLiT Mumbai

India witnessed a historic milestone as the Sommeliers Association of India (SAI) successfully hosted the grand finale of the inaugural edition of the 2025 SAI Best Sommelier of India competition at the iconic The LaLiT, Mumbai. A Triumph of Talent: Jai Singh Emerged Victorious with a Prestigious Jury Panel of Global Wine Icons. This landmark event, the first of its kind in the country, marked a significant step forward in India's growing recognition on the global wine map. Amrita Singh, Co-Founder and President of the Sommeliers Association of India shared her excitement:  "The successful execution of this inaugural event marks a defining moment for the Indian sommelier community. All participants should be proud of their outstanding performances, and we are excited to see how they will continue to contribute to the growth of India’s hospitality culture. Moscow to showcase tourism marvels at OTM 2025 in Mumbai

Moscow is all set to captivate audiences at the OTM International Tourism Exhibition in Mumbai from January 30 to February 1, 2025. Over three days, the Russian capital will present the best it can offer in cultural, leisure, and business tourism. The Moscow stand will host over 500 key business meetings and negotiations during the event, connecting Moscow's tourism sector representatives with their Indian counterparts. Experts from Moscow will present the city’s flagship projects, including the Moscow Tea Time Project that introduces visitors to Moscow tea traditions which are being restored nowadays, the Moscow Estates Festival, an iconic cultural event that attracts more than 100,000 tourists and citizens annually, the Moscow Gastronomy Project, the City of Discoveries educational project and RUSSPASS travel planning service. Joint projects include the Moscow+ Project, which fosters collaborative tourism across Russian regions — notably the Tyumen region with its Visit Tyumen Project. Moreover, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Moscow’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, and the Department of Culture, the Moscow exposition will showcase the city’s export potential, alongside Discover Russia and Made in Moscow brands.
