The Lion City is all set to open its doors to regional and global industry leaders for a sectoral update

This year’s Singapore MICE Forum is slated this week, running from 29th to 31st July at Resorts World Sentosa.

Since our coverage of the event last year, much has changed in the field, especially as the regional sector grows more competitive and new hubs emerge.

Last year, the event was positioned as a business event geared towards MICE professionals, one that would help broaden their perspectives and, in turn, lead to the evolution of the way events are done in Singapore and beyond.

Today, the Singaporean MICE sector has shifted significantly: going from volume recovery to staging high-value experiential events.
The past year has also seen the country’s hosting of major global conferences and exhibitions, some taken out of North America for the first time ever.

With Singapore ramping up its event and incentive travel infrastructure, pushed by an influx of high-spending business travellers, MICE remains a fundamental pillar of its tourism economy.

The year that was

Between the last SMF and this year’s, the Singaporean MICE sector earned US$1.78 billion as of end-2025, reflecting a growth of ten percent year-on-year from 2024.

Likewise, events hosted in Singapore drew in a number of high-yield delegates from around the world.

Last year’s event delegates came from a diverse range of fields, including finance, healthcare, sustainability, and technological development.

The International Congress and Convention Association also reported that Singapore remains the top city for MICE in the Asia Pacific, holding the title for a 23rd consecutive year.

Singapore also had the honour of hosting the first–ever conference of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) staged outside North America.

Mega-events were much in evidence in 2025, including the Milipol Tech X summit which drew in more than 21,000 delegates, and this has extended well into this year thanks to the Lions Clubs International Convention and the World Conference for Non-Destructive Testing.

Building for progress

Infrastructural development has been a key aspect driving the progress of MICE in Singapore.

Integrated resorts for whom MICE has become a lucrative attraction underwent.major physical upgrades.

Marina Bay Sands was one, the facility undergoing a multi-billion-dollar expansion that resulted in the addition of  a new hotel tower, large arena, and extra convention space.

Singapore’s MICE scene also shifted more towards shorter, high-impact events, and micro-events.

We have also seen advanced tech integration as event organisers brought in real-time analytics and immersive AR/VR elements.

This is a significant change from the traditional multi-day static setups which characterised events prior to 2022.

Finally, Singapore also attributes the success of the sector to the significant focus on global business travellers who now dominate arrivals, surpassing the number of leisure tourists into the city-state.
