Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced the upcoming debut of Thrill Glider, a groundbreaking roller coaster set to open in 2027. This innovative ride, developed by renowned manufacturer Vekoma, will be the first of its kind, combining flying motorbike and suspended coaster technologies to create a new category known as the Thrillglider.
Thrill Glider promises an exhilarating experience with its hovercycle vehicles, allowing riders to assume a prone, face-forward position beneath the track. The ride features a custom-designed terrain-following layout with 20 unique track elements, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph. Riders will experience 12 airtime moments, five inversions, and a dramatic station flyby over nearly 3,380 feet of track. Enhanced by onboard audio and lighting effects, the ride aims to amplify the sensation of speed and flight.
The attraction will set multiple world records, including being the world's first multi-launch Thrillglider and the longest and fastest in its category. It will also feature the most inversions on a Thrillglider. The ride's narrative immerses guests in the world of QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems, a fictional technology company, as they explore The Futurist Pavilion before boarding.
Brian Oerding, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain, stated, "Thrill Glider is more than a new attraction. It is the latest milestone in Six Flags Magic Mountain's renaissance and a reflection of the park's enduring role as an industry innovator."
Located on the former site of the Golden Bear Theatre, Thrill Glider will be accessible to a wide range of thrill seekers, with a minimum height requirement of 48 inches.
