The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has reported a robust performance for the Songkran Festival 2026, with the event projected to generate more than $830 million (30.35 billion Baht) in tourism revenue. In Bangkok, popular areas such as Silom Road and Khao San Road experienced high attendance, whilst regions like Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya drew crowds with unique celebrations like “Songkran with Elephants.” The South saw notable tourism activity, with Songkhla's Sadao border crossing recording over 36,000 crossings, primarily from Malaysian visitors.
International arrivals during the festival period are projected at approximately 500,000, a 4% increase year-on-year, generating around $222 million (8.1 billion Baht). Domestic tourism is expected to reach 5.96 million trips, contributing approximately $610 million (22.25 billion Baht).
As the festival concludes on 15 April, selected destinations will continue celebrations, further sustaining travel momentum and extending the festival's impact. Songkran remains a key driver of Thailand’s tourism economy, reinforcing the country's reputation for high-quality cultural experiences
