Stay One Degree, which connects discerning owners of exclusive homes with a vetted member base of luxury travellers seeking special homes and unique experiences, has compiled key destinations and travel trends to watch in 2020, including trends observed from member bookings and requests.
Conscious tourism is still top of the agenda
As we are all aware, eco-friendly travel and its impact on the Earth is at the forefront of every travel discussion, with luxury travel no exception to the rule. Bookings for ethical and eco-friendly travel are predicted to rise by 70% within Stay One Degree next year.
Wellness travel to expand people’s horizons
The rise of mindfulness and wellbeing activities is taking high precedence on holiday checklists.
Stay One Degree now predicts that alternative wellness locations are being considered because of their authentic experiences, with Japan proving to be popular amongst members.
Online scams are only growing, with 10% of people reporting to have been deceived on mass-market rental sites.
Next year, luxury travellers are set to become savvier in who they choose to book through. Stay One Degree is ahead of the curb here, by carefully vetting each home and only allowing connected friends, mutual connections and trusted members to book a home within the club, and providing members with complete confidence in their booking choices.
Enotourism on the rise
Those surveyed are also on a mission to expand their palates, with a third (33%) of members actively seeking out food-specific destinations with access to well respected Michelin Starred restaurants, local produce markets and nearby culinary courses.
A relatively recent development in food-centred holidays is the focus on wine – or enotourism.
