Thailand has recorded a significant surge in investment applications, totalling $43.6 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 37% increase year-on-year. This growth is largely driven by substantial investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and digital technologies, according to the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI).

The digital sector led the influx, with $33 billion in investment applications, highlighting Thailand's appeal as a hub for next-generation industries. The electrical appliances and electronics sector followed, attracting $3.56 billion across 179 projects. Agriculture and food processing also saw significant investments, securing $1.82 billion across 131 projects.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) applications soared by 80% year-on-year, reaching $40.5 billion across 877 projects. Singapore emerged as the top source of FDI, contributing $33.2 billion, followed by the United Kingdom and China. These investments are concentrated in digital technology, electronics, and high-value services.

The BOI's Secretary General, Narit Therdsteerasukdi, emphasised the importance of these investments, stating, "Real success means quality jobs, higher skills, and better income for Thai workers." The approved projects are expected to create over 82,000 jobs and significantly boost Thailand's export capacity.

To support the growing demand for energy, Thailand is also witnessing a rise in renewable energy projects, with 198 clean energy initiatives valued at $7.79 billion. The BOI's Smart and Sustainable Industry initiative further encourages automation and digital technology integration, enhancing productivity and sustainable manufacturing
