The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed Air India Express’ inaugural non-stop flight from Visakhapatnam to Bangkok, which began operating on 27 October 2026. The twice-weekly service strengthens air connectivity between Thailand and eastern India ahead of the winter travel season.
Flight IX0904 arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 16.00 local time. A TAT delegation led by Patsee Permvongsene, Executive Director for the ASEAN, South Asia and South Pacific Region, welcomed the flight alongside Air India Express representatives.
Permvongsene said India’s regional cities could attract new traveller segments to Thailand. The route also supports TAT’s strategy to attract high-value visitors.
Air India Express, a subsidiary of the Air India Group, will operate the service twice a week. Flights depart Visakhapatnam at 11.35 and arrive in Bangkok at 16.00. Return flights leave Bangkok at 02.10 and reach Visakhapatnam at 03.55. All times are local.
The new service adds to Thailand’s air network with India, which comprises 11 airlines operating 427 weekly flights. As of October 2026, these services offer 83,517 seats. Indian passport holders can also stay in Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days under the policy effective from 15 September 2026.
India remains a key source market for Thai tourism. Thailand recorded nearly 1.9 million Indian arrivals from January to October 2026. Many travel independently, with beach holidays, Thai cuisine and spa experiences among their popular activities.
TAT continues to promote Thailand in major Indian cities. Its efforts target high-spending travellers and the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) sector through partnerships with airlines and tour operators.
