Travelex secures exclusive FX deal at Munich Airport

Travelex has been appointed as the exclusive foreign exchange provider at Munich Airport's newly opened Terminal 1E, marking a significant expansion for the company in Germany. The €665 million ($___) terminal, which opened on 21 April, is designed to handle up to six million long-haul passengers annually, catering to around 40 airlines.

The five-year contract allows Travelex to operate two new stores—one airside and one landside—alongside five ATMs at the non-Schengen pier. Leonard Stolk, Managing Director for Europe at Travelex, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to be chosen as the leading travel money partner to enter Munich Airport, building on our rich history in Germany that spans over three decades.”

Munich Airport, the second busiest in Germany, welcomed 43.4 million passengers in 2025, its busiest year since the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport serves as a gateway for one in every five air travellers entering Germany.

The new Travelex stores offer over 50 currencies for purchase on the day of travel and provide tax refund services. Customers can also collect cash pre-ordered via the Travelex website. This expansion adds to Travelex's presence in Germany, where it operates in five of the six busiest airports, including Frankfurt, Berlin Brandenburg, and Hamburg.

Travelex's continued growth in Germany underscores its commitment to providing convenient and secure access to travel money, enhancing the passenger experience at major international airports
